If you’ve never experienced Reiki before, it’s completely normal to wonder what it actually feels like.
Most people come in not really knowing what to expect -and that’s okay. There’s nothing you need to do, nothing you need to “feel,” and no right or wrong way to experience it.
During Your Session
Your session is meant to be quiet, calm, and completely yours.
You’ll lie comfortably on a treatment table in a peaceful space, while light hand placements are used throughout the session. There’s no pressure to talk, respond, or do anything at all.
Many people find themselves settling in quickly, sometimes even drifting off to sleep.
What You Might Feel
Everyone’s experience is a little different.
Some people notice a deep sense of relaxation, like their body is finally able to let go. Others feel warmth, heaviness, or a subtle shift in how their body feels.
Some people may even notice visual sensations, like colors or light, while their eyes are closed.
And sometimes, you may not notice anything specific in the moment—but still leave feeling calmer, clearer, and more at ease.
All of it is completely normal.
After Your Session
After Reiki, most people describe feeling lighter, more relaxed, and mentally quieter.
It’s not usually a dramatic or overwhelming feeling, it’s more subtle than that.
You might notice:
- Your body feels more relaxed
- Your mind feels less busy
- You feel a little more grounded or clear
It’s the kind of shift you don’t always realize you needed until you feel it.
If You’re Not Sure What to Expect
You don’t need to fully understand Reiki for it to be helpful.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, mentally drained, or just in need of time to slow down, it can be a really supportive place to start.
