At Beautiful & Co., your safety, comfort, and results are our highest priority. Before receiving permanent makeup or paramedical tattooing, it’s essential to understand if any health conditions or medications may affect your eligibility.
Below is a full list of contraindications that may prevent you from receiving treatment or require further discussion before proceeding.
You may not be a candidate if you:
Are pregnant or nursing
If you are pregnant or nursing, permanent makeup procedures cannot be done.Have a heart valve replacement
Have a pacemaker or cardiac stents
Have a history of seizures or epilepsy
Have been diagnosed with Lupus
Have Rheumatoid Arthritis
Have Vitiligo (please let us know if you’re currently on medication for it)
Have Rosacea, Eczema, or Psoriasis in the treatment area
(We’ll need to wait until your skin is not in a flare-up)Are currently taking blood thinners prescribed by a doctor (not including over-the-counter aspirin)
Have completed a full round of chemotherapy (you must be cleared by your oncologist before proceeding)
Have any active rashes, breakouts, or inflammation in the area to be treated
Have an active cold sore, acne outbreak, or shingles
Have taken Accutane (Isotretinoin) in the last 6–12 months
Have a history of keloid scarring
Have had a chemical peel, microneedling, or laser treatment in the area within the last 2–4 weeks
Have uncontrolled diabetes or a bleeding disorder
Please inform us
if you:
Have any autoimmune conditions
Have a pacemaker, heart condition, or other chronic health issue
Are on prescription medications
Have allergies to pigment, lidocaine, or topical anesthetics
Have received Botox or fillers in the treatment area within the last 14 days
Required Waiting Periods
For Permanent Makeup Services
To ensure the best results and prioritize your safety, some treatments and medications require a waiting period before booking your permanent makeup appointment. Please review the guidelines for each service area below:
Brows
Before your brow tattoo appointment:
Botox or Dysport: Wait 2 weeks after injections
Topical Acne Creams (Benzoyl Peroxide, Clindamycin, Proactiv): Wait 1 week
Chemical Peels (retinols, glycolic acid, Vitamin C): Wait 4–6 weeks
Laser Resurfacing: Wait 8 weeks
IPL Treatments: Wait 2 weeks
Suntanned Skin:
Face: Wait 3–4 weeks
For Scar Camouflage: Wait 2–3 months
Brow Lamination:
Wait 4 weeks before permanent makeup
Wait 6–8 weeks after brow tattoo before re-laminating
Eyeliner
Before your eyeliner tattoo appointment:
Eyelash Extensions: Remove 1–2 days before your session
Contact Lenses: Must be removed at appointment — bring glasses
Lash Serums (e.g., Latisse): Discontinue for 4 weeks
Stye or Chalazion:
Wait 2 weeks after full healing
Wait 4 weeks after surgical removal
Lasik or Cataract Surgery: Wait 3 months post-op, or book 1 month before any upcoming eye surgery
Eye Conditions (e.g., Glaucoma, Graves' Disease): Must be cleared by your doctor
Lips
Before your lip blush appointment:
Moisturize Daily with Vaseline or balm for 5 days before
Exfoliate Gently with a lip scrub (DIY or store-bought)
Cold Sores (Fever Blisters):
If you’ve ever had one, you must get an antiviral prescription (Valacyclovir)
Start 2 days before and continue for 6 days
Request enough for your touch-up appointment too
Lip Fillers: Wait 1 week
Fat Transfer to Lips: Wait 1 month
